An Act of Christmas Kindness

My daughter and son-in-law were in town and got tickets for A Christmas Carol in 2011. 

I wished I had arranged to get a ticket. I work downtown, was working late and met them briefly prior to the show in the ticket area.  

While chatting with them, a man approached us and asked if we needed a ticket because his wife was ill and could not attend. I felt bad and did not have any money to offer him for the ticket. He and his daughter were kind to share their extra ticket with me without any expectation, to make my holiday nicer. 

It was an act of kindness and a demonstration of Christmas spirit.

Holiday Visit with Sandi Patty

A few years back, Sandi Patty came to do a Christmas concert. It was on my sister's birthday, so she and I went together. We were lucky enough to get seats in one of the side boxes, so we felt like we were so close. 

Towards the end of the concert Sandi was talking about how much she loves Christmas and singing Christmas songs, but that loved listening to songs also. She started Silent Night and asked us to join in, all of us. A thousand of us. We all were singing and then Sandi stopped and listened. My sister and I stopped singing and just listened. It was awesome. There were harmonies, off key lines, and people that didn't know the words, but it was so beautiful. 

Sandi signed autographs afterward, and my sister and I were the last ones in line. We got to chat with Sandi for quite a while, and she was such an amazing person to talk to. I will never forget that night at the Fox Cities P.A.C. I have seen some amazing shows there, but that few moments when all of us joined together in song tops it all.

The Lakota Sioux Dance Theater... Bring them back!

For The Nutcracker, I played in the pit [with the Fox Valley Symphony] while my daughter was in the audience. What a gift this event was for our family!

A Relaxing Night

I come to the Fox Cities P.A.C. with our travel agency, Passageways and have many, many memories of being here for shows.

[I enjoyed] The Nutcracker for the music. There's no talking which is so different, but there is beautiful scenery. What a relaxing night!

A Dancer in the Making

One particular experience at the Fox Cities P.A.C. will be forever etched in my memory. I can't help but have it spring into my mind, and heart, each time I walk in.

As a new arrival in Fox Cities, I was fortunate to attend a performance of The Nutcracker in December of 2005. In addition to be a brand-new Wisconsinite, I was also hugely pregnant and due to give birth to my first child, a girl, on Christmas Eve. As we watched the elegant ballet dancers and listened to Tchaikovsky's stunning score, my daughter moved constantly inside me. I smiled to myself, imagining that she was dancing right along with the performance. However, when she stopped moving during intermission, and recommenced for the second act; I was convinced of it.

She Still Talks About Clifford

When our daughter was born in 2009, I couldn't wait to take her to the Center for a show. I always loved seeing the little ones come through the building holding hands, yelling as loud as they can in the lobby and seeing the never ending pile of stairs to climb.

Last year, when Elsie was a little over 2 years old we went to see Clifford the Big Red Dog - LIVE! I told her Clifford was going to be at the place mommy works, and she was amazed! She was immediately engaged from the minute they came on stage (she's never sat still that long!), and she loved clapping and singing along. My favorite part was when they asked what the kids' favorite colors were, and she looked around in amazement at all of the kids announcing their favorite colors. Then about 30 seconds later she yelled, "Jingle Bells!"

She still talks about it whenever we read a Clifford book, wondering if he's going to be at my work that day. It's a memory I'll never forget and hopefully the start of a love of performing arts for her!

Together as a Family

One of my favorite memories of the Fox Cities P.A.C. was seeing the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra with my family. My parents have always encouraged an appreciation for the arts in our household when we were growing up, and one of our favorites was the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra. Being able to see them live and together as a family is something we will always remember. It’s experiences like these that make the Fox Cities P.A.C. such a great asset to this community!
