Meeting Hello, Dolly! cast a Memorable Experience

My husband and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary at Hello, Dolly! What an outstanding performance! We had the pleasure of experiencing the meet and greet after the show. Meeting Sally Struthers and the cast was truly an experience that we will always treasure.

Kim and Dave Beiser meet Sally Struthers and the cast of Hello, Dolly!

We had lots of time for questions and friendly conversation. Ms. Struthers showed a genuine interest in meeting and talking with those of us who attended. She and the cast were more than willing to just “hang out” and talk. I said to her, “I loved your interpretation of Dolly.” Her reply with a laugh was, “I wouldn't know how to do it any other way.” What a fabulous evening! We continue to feel how lucky we are to have the Fox Cities P.A.C. right in our backyard.

Community Experience, Friendly Faces and Dedication to Excellence Appreciated

There are many reasons why we love living in the Fox Cities. Without a doubt, our favorite part of life here is the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. The dedication of volunteers, beautiful facility and amazing productions inspired us to change quickly from occasional show-goers to Season Ticket Holders.

Having seen some of the same shows elsewhere in larger cities, we have found that quite often we prefer the productions at the Fox Cities P.A.C. Also, as mentioned above, the joy and conviction of the volunteers makes the entire event an experience that other theaters simply cannot match. Year upon year, the experience continues to improve. Simply look around for a place to sit in the lobby and you will find that, amongst other fantastic changes, more seating has been added since last season.

The community experience, friendly faces and dedication to excellence make the shows almost seem like icing on the cake! We are proud to be a part of the Fox Cities P.A.C. family and its mission to bring the arts to all levels of the community.

Loving Every Minute of Blue Man Group

A few months ago I attended Blue Man Group with my 12 year old son. We were fortunate to have seats just behind the splash zone.

He loved every minute of it. And I loved seeing the excitement and joy on his face.

He thought it was great to be blasted by paper, so he  saved every bit of paper he could get his hands on, wrapping himself in it like clothing. We probably looked very odd walking down the street after that, but he was happy.

The teenage years of indifference are just around the corner, so I savored the moment.

A Treasured Keepsake from Cats

When we took our three daughters to see Cats at the Fox Cities P.A.C., the tickets were so affordable that we were able to get front row seats right in the center. Our daughters who love dance and drama were so captivated being close enough to see the actor's make-up and the detail of their costumes.

But the highlight of that afternoon has to be when our youngest daughter received the lapel flower from the cat in white spats during the show. She still has it as a most treasured keepsake.

She asked for the DVD of Cats soon after we saw the show at the Center. Now she dances and performs for us while watching the DVD and her special flower is always right there with her.

An Act of Christmas Kindness

My daughter and son-in-law were in town and got tickets for A Christmas Carol in 2011.

I wished I had arranged to get a ticket. I work downtown, was working late and met them briefly prior to the show in the ticket area.

While chatting with them, a man approached us and asked if we needed a ticket because his wife was ill and could not attend. I felt bad and did not have any money to offer him for the ticket. He and his daughter were kind to share their extra ticket with me without any expectation, to make my holiday nicer.

It was an act of kindness and a demonstration of Christmas spirit.

Budding Ballerinas

It's easy to see that kids are inspired by the arts. They have so much in common - both are whimsical, magical and full of possibility.

Here are just a few Share Your Story submissions inspired by the Makaroff Youth Ballet's production of The Nutcracker in December 2012. It's clear we have several budding ballerinas in our audience!

Season Tickets Become Special Memories

Shortly after my daughter, Kimberly, and I moved to Green Bay in 2005, I purchased tickets to see Annie. They were given to her for Christmas.  Probably one of her favorite presents.

We enjoyed ourselves so much, that the next year I bought us tickets to Jesus Christ Superstar, and then starting the next season, Season Tickets.

When we were waiting for Elf to start, Kimberly turned to me (she turned 21 on closing day) and said, "I hope that I can have something special like this that I can do with my children some day."

I just love the fact that she is very protective of our "special" time makes the performances so much better. I will continue to buy two Season Tickets so that we can share that time together.
